Cultural practices and creation in the field of arts education expanded to the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
by Bernard Darras
This conference is an opportunity to question the academic arts education system at the moment when its development shows it is now constrained into the social, cultural and technical approaches that led to its creation and institutionalization.
In this presentation, I will put forward and attempt to articulate the following ideas:
– The enlargement of the arts to eclectic cultural practices. By questioning the hegemony of the reference to (high) art.
– The decoupling of cultural and arts education from the art world in favour of an open understanding of creation and communication.
– Finally, the formation of visual, audiovisual and media communication skills that integrates visual literacies, design and technology.
